Lookout Pass APRS Digipeater Site (APRS: LOOKOT) These pics are from our August 2005 site visit when Jim Reeves/WA7RVV, Bill Nadwornick/K7CTS and I/K7GPS drove up to Lookout Pass (I-90 ID/MT State Line) to check the antenna, radio and TNC of the Lookout Pass APRS digipeater. The equipment was all in good shape. We replaced the antenna with one of Jims, so I could recover mine. There may be a 1-2 db gain from the old to the new. For now, we're one of only two amateur radios in this massive, former AT&T microwave relay site, about 6500 feet up. The tower platform used to house eight giant microwave feedhorns used to relay traffic across their network. The other radio is a UHF repeater which will eventually be linked with another repeater in the Missoula area. We had a great day, far better than the day that Bill and I did the initial install (2004), when it was cold and rainy for the evolution which required a trip to the top of the platform to install the antenna and a solar panel.
