Almost all APRS applications offer a TCP/IP connection where you can see a much larger APRS picture with either a dial-up or full-time internet connection. You can also send APRS one-liner messages over the internet. Generally you put an "I" in lieu of a "1" or "2" referencing RF ports. You can monitor the Northwest APRS traffic with an internet connection and copy of the APRS software. For Macintosh you need the TGE TCP/IP tool, located in your Extensions folder. Select and configure the tool with the url and port address. Edit the APRServe.txt file in those APRS applications with an internet feed capability. If the following is not already in the list, manually add it, then restart the application: northwest.aprs2.net:14577 for the full nwaprs feed Other choices for the Northwest T2 Server: 14577 - NWAPRS Feed Check status: http://northwest.aprs2.net You'll need to turn on the TCP/IP "switch" to start the reception of activity. There are well in excess of 1000 stations across the northwest region. There are more choices now for the NWAPRS area of interest internet feed: northwest.aprs2.net:14580 will get you Tom KD7LXL's Seattle-based server If you go to the url http://northwest.aprs2.net you'll see the other available ports. |
